Residential Boom
- Details
- Created on Friday, 21 February 2014 00:45
The last six months have certainly been busy for local real estate agents as the residential housing markets experiences sales and growth not seen since the GFC. Local agents are reporting bumper months as properties sell in a matter of days rather than weeks. However, with the boom comes stock shortages and property availability dries up.
Years of the slow residential building growth have meant that housing stock is low and that anything coming on to the market is being snapped up quickly. This is pushing property values up. The shortage underpins the Chamber’s concerns over the new Council medium density housing controls which may inadvertently slow building approvals due to the tough guidelines. We will seek the opportunity to put our con- cerns to Gosford Council.
Looking At Our Towns Through ‘Fresh Eyes’
- Details
- Created on Friday, 21 February 2014 00:44
The Chamber and Business NSW will be jointly conduct- ing an analysis on the experiences of ‘first time visitors’ to our three town centres. While we might think our visitors are having a positive experience, it may very well be a different story. The joint project ‘Fresh Eyes” will take place over the next month with three first time visitors who will photograph and diarize their experiences. Such things as:- what does the entry to the town centre feel like, is the perception a safe one; does the town feel friendly and has it been a worthwhile experience. The objective is to see where physical improvements can be made and what can we do to ensure that very important return visit does occur. We look forward to the results and will certainly report back in our next issue. All results will be forwarded to Gosford City Council as the Chamber will be seeking collaborative funds for future town centre improvements. This will be a project undertaken in con- junction with town centres in the north of the coast.
We are presently working on a marketing strategy for Ettalong Beach as the ‘Dining Mecca of the Central Coast’ A brochure is presently being designed to promote the fabulous choices we have to dine out in Ettalong Beach and we look forward to launching it in the coming weeks.
THE SACRED HEART CHURCH COMES DOWN
- Details
- Created on Friday, 21 February 2014 00:43
The Peninsula community is seeing the last remnants of our old Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Street demolished after many years of service to the community. The Church was deconsecrated and sold off to a local property developer several years ago. The new owner subsequently leased the premises to a group who held concerts, parties and other activities in the slowly de- grading hall. It was with great sadness to see the old church decline and painted over with ‘graffiti artwork’ funded by NSW State Government’s Dept Family & Community Services. Thank- fully the neglected church has now been demolished and will be replaced with high quality residential units.
